The American Griswold family wins a trip to Europe on a TV quiz show. The first stop is England. But as soon as they arrive, Father Clark is confronted with traffic and the ruins of Stonehenge suffer further damage. In Paris, the Griswalds have their video camera stolen and in Germany, they get involved in a fight while playing Schuhplattler. But it is in Rome that they get the biggest surprise.
