The Ocean of Fire is a 5,000 km survival race that takes place every year across the Arabian desert. In 1890, for the first time in history, a wealthy sheikh invites an American and his horse, Hidalgo, to participate in the race. Frank T. Hopkins, a cowboy and messenger for the American cavalry, is the greatest horseman the American West has ever known. The sheikh wants to pit his guests against the greatest Arabian horses and the best Bedouin horsemen.
