Jarhead / Jarhead

Summer 1990, Anthony Swofford, son and grandson of military personnel, is sent to the Saudi desert when he has just celebrated his 20th birthday. As the Gulf War has just broken out, his Marine battalion is one of the first to deploy in this vast desert.

But then begins a long and interminable wait for these uprooted young people, who never stop gorging themselves on images and warlike ideology and beer. Faced with a "phantom enemy", extreme tensions appear between the Marines despite the unalterable friendship that binds them.
