Just when she realizes that her inspiration has dried up, she receives an email from Buddy Slade, her old high school sweetheart, who tells her that the daughter he had with Beth, his wife, has been born. For Mavis, this is a sign. So she decides to return to Mercury, the small town of their childhood, and win back Buddy.
