Campus program Warsaw, October 1939. A young Jewish pianist, Wladyslaw Szpilman, is locked in the ghetto with his family. He witnesses, helpless, the humiliations that his family suffers daily. Thanks to outside help, he narrowly escapes deportation but sees his entire family leave. The young man then hides in empty houses and passively watches the last inhabitants revolt against the German occupation.
