Ted, the loser, decides to find his childhood sweetheart, the splendid Mary. He hires a private detective, Pat Healy, to find her. Convinced that he is dealing with a degenerate, Healy goes to Miami and finds Mary. Determined to keep Mary for himself, he tells Ted that she has become fat, that she is paralyzed and that she has four children. But Tucker, an architect, is also in love with Mary.
