A Dam Against the Pacific

Indochina, 1931. In the Gulf of Siam, on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, a mother survives as best she can with her two children, Joseph (20 years old) and Suzanne (16 years old), whom she sees growing up and whose departure she knows is inevitable. Abused by the colonial administration, she has invested all her savings in land that is regularly flooded, and therefore uncultivable.
